This term indicates that teachers who impart knowledge to children have an extremely firm and critical role. When Allah intends to send punishment upon the inhabitants of the earth, the sound of a teacher teaching the Quran to young children can cause Allah to divert that punishment away from them.

DALIL
قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ: كَانَ يُقَالُ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُرِيدُ الْعَذَابَ بِأَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فَإِذَا سَمِعَ تَعْلِيمَ الْمُعَلِّمِ الصِّبْيَانَ الْحِكْمَةَ صَرَفَ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُمْ. قَالَ مَرْوَانُ: يَعْنِي بِالْحِكْمَةِ الْقُرْآنَ.
"Sesungguhnya Gusti Alloh sewaktu hendak menurunkan azab kepada penduduk bumi, kemudian ketika Alloh mendengar guru yang mengajari Ilmu kepada anak kecil Maka Alloh memalingkan azab tersebut dari mereka" Mirwan mengomentari hikmah yang dimaksud adalah Al-Qur'an

وقال ابن عباس في رواية: خرابها بموت علمائها وفقهائها وأهل الخير منها.

أنشدنا أحمد بن غزال لنفسه: [الطويل]
الأرض تحيا إذا ما عاش عالمها # متى يمت عالم منها يمت
"muka bumi akan hidup ketika orang alimnya masih hidup, kapan waktunya orang alim mati maka akan Rusak pula penjuru bumi"
"The earth will thrive when its scholars are alive; when the scholars pass away, every corner of the earth will also fall into ruin"
طرف كالأرض تحيا إذا ما الغيث حلّ بها # وإن أبى عاد في أكنافها التلف
"Seperti halnya bumi yang hidup ketika hujan turun, Dan seandainya hujan tak kunjung turun maka akan datang kerusakan dipenjuru bumi"
"Just as the earth flourishes when rain falls, if rain never comes, destruction will befall every corner of the earth"
