SESAJEN

1. The Relationship between Culture and Islam

- Culture or tradition is a human creation that is constantly changing and diverse. Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) upholds the principle: preserving the goodness from the past and creating new, better things.
- In Islamic law (fiqh), customs or traditions are among the factors to be considered when establishing laws. If not all the good aspects of a tradition can be adopted, there is no need to abandon it entirely, as it may still contain positive values.

2. The Tradition of Sesajen in Indonesia

- Sesajen is a common tradition in Indonesia, often performed during events such as selamatan (communal prayer meals), weddings, circumcisions, or other traditional ceremonies as a way to pray for safety and well-being.
- Some parts of the sesajen ritual that conflict with Islamic teachings can be replaced with more appropriate activities, such as collective tahlilan (recitation of prayers for the deceased).

3. Islamic Rulings and Procedures for Sesajen

- If sesajen consists of food, it should be eaten and not wasted.
- If sesajen involves slaughtered animals, the intention must be purely to draw closer (taqarrub) to Allah SWT, with the aim that Allah protects from the disturbance of jinn. This intention makes the animal's meat permissible (halal) to eat.
- It is strictly forbidden to slaughter animals with the intention for jinn or to serve them. This act is haram (forbidden), and if the intention is to dedicate the animal to jinn, it can lead to kufur (disbelief).
- Placing food or flowers on roads, in fields, or in homes for the souls of the deceased or other beings on specific days (such as Eid al-Fitr or Friday) is haram. It is considered part of pre-Islamic ignorance (jahiliyah) and an act of shirk (associating partners with Allah).

Main Purpose of the Article

This article aims to explain that Islam does not reject traditions outright, but requires us to be selective and wise. The tradition of sesajen may be preserved as long as it does not conflict with the core teachings of Islam. Essentially, every action within a tradition must be based on a pure intention towards Allah SWT, and all acts that lead to shirk or associating partners with Allah must be avoided

[I’anah at-Thalibin juz II hal. 349]

It is forbidden if it is done with the intention for (those jinn, not Allah to whom one draws closer), then the meat of the slaughtered animal is haram (forbidden) as it is classified as carrion. Moreover, if one intends taqarrub and servitude to jinn, then the act is considered kufur (disbelief), just as has been discussed regarding the slaughtering of animals when meeting a ruler or visiting the tomb of a wali (saint).” [I’anah at-Thalibin Volume II, page 349]

Poin Penting

1. Persepsi Masyarakat tentang Kemenyan

Key Points

1. Public Perception of Frankincense
- Frankincense is often used in certain places (such as the tombs of saints) and religious events (like thanksgiving prayer gatherings).
- There are various views: some associate it with summoning spirits, some consider it a room freshener, and others are bothered by its scent.
2. The Ruling on Using Frankincense in Islam
- Scenting a room by burning frankincense, incense, musk, or agarwood is a good practice, as it aligns with the habit of Prophet Muhammad SAW, who greatly loved fragrances.
- This habit was passed down to the Companions and the Successors (Tabi’in), and it is still evident today around the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Nabawi) and the Sacred Mosque (Masjidil Haram).
3. Evidence from Hadith and the Actions of the Companions
- Several hadith narrate about scenting the deceased (giving fragrance using burning materials) and the wills of the Companions to have their shrouds scented with agarwood.
- Prophet Muhammad SAW also instructed that mosques be scented on Fridays, as part of maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of places of worship.
4. Shifts in Perception in Modern Times
- The fragrances used in the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW and the Companions have simply changed form with the advancement of time and technology.
- Frankincense and incense, which were once the main room fresheners, are now often misunderstood and associated with superstition or shamanism, as people’s preferences have shifted to perfumes or modern room fresheners.

Purpose of the Article

This article aims to explain that the use of frankincense and similar substances in Islam is actually permissible and even recommended, as it follows the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW and the practice of the Companions. It also seeks to correct the public’s misconception that links frankincense to mystical things, by emphasizing that frankincense is essentially just a type of good room freshener, and this shift in view occurred solely due to changes in time and preferences

OBAT BISUL ALA KANJENG NABI

1. Latar Belakang Doa

BOIL REMEDY ACCORDING TO THE PROPHET (MUHAMMAD)

1. Prayer Background

This prayer originates from an account where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encountered one of his wives who had a boil on the tip of her finger. He used a herbal remedy called Dzarirah (a well-known medicine from India) and guided his wife to recite this prayer.

2. Prayer Text and Meaning

The prayer reads:

Which means: "O Allah, the One Who can make great things small and small things great, make small what afflicts me."

3. Main Purpose of the Prayer

Doanya berbunyi:

HATERS

HATERS

1. No one is free from having haters
Every person in this world (including good people) will certainly have those who like them and those who hate them. This is like a "back ailment" that always follows us wherever we go – something we cannot completely avoid.
2. It is best to remain istiqomah (consistent) in doing good
Even if there is criticism or hatred from others, we do not need to be influenced or change our path. The most important thing is to continue carrying out Allah’s commands consistently and not be easily swayed.
3. Always be with those who are obedient to Allah
Since having admirers and haters is a natural thing, focus on continuing to do good. In this way, we will stay on the right path.
4. Do not pay too much attention to other people’s judgments
If we keep fixating on what people say or think about us, we will live in endless sadness. On the contrary, those who can accept all of this and focus on what is right (in their lives) will attain happiness and victory

IN SHORT

The main point is to keep doing good, even if many people hate you. Just like Naruto, who once lived through dark times but still chose to keep moving forward

DAWAM WUDHU

Apa Itu Dawam Wudhu?

- Sakaratul maut menjadi mudah ketika ajal tiba

ENGLISH

DAWAM WUDHU

What is Dawam Wudhu?

Dawam wudhu means maintaining a state of ritual purity through wudhu, not just performing wudhu only when about to pray. Even after experiencing minor ritual impurity (hadats), it is recommended to perform wudhu even if prayer time has not yet arrived and one does not intend to pray. "In the hadith narrated by Bilal, maintaining a state of ritual purity (dawam wudhu) is recommended. Moreover, performing wudhu after experiencing minor ritual impurity (hadats) is recommended even if prayer time has not yet arrived and one does not intend to pray. This explanation is derived from the instruction of the Prophet ﷺ: "None guard their wudhu except the perfect believer". Because the apparent meaning of the Prophet’s instruction refers to maintaining a continuous state of purity (dawam wudhu), not just performing the obligatory wudhu only when about to pray. Allah knows best (Wallahu a'lam)"

Imam Al-Ajuri meriwayatkan hadits dari sahabat Anas bin malik, ia berkata : Rasulullah pernah bersabda "Wahai anas, jika engkau mampu selamanya dirimu dalam keadaan wudhu Maka lakukalah, karena malaikat maut ketika mencabut ruh hamba, Dan dia dalam keadaan punya wudhu Maka dicatat baginya mati dalam keadaan syahid"

Sebagian ahli makrifat berkata "Barangsiapa yang dawam wudhu maka Alloh ta'ala muliakan dengan tujuh perkara :
1. Malaikat suka menemaninya
2. Qolam tidak henti-henti basah menulis pahalanya.
3. Anggota tubuhnya bertasbih
4. Tidak tertinggal takbirotul ihram imam (ketika sholat berjamaah)
6. Alloh mudahkan dalam sakaratulmaut
7. Mendapatkan Aman dari Alloh selama dawam wudhu

DAWAM WUDHU

Apa Itu Dawam Wudhu?

- Sakaratul maut menjadi mudah ketika ajal tiba

What is Dawam Wudhu?

Dawam wudhu means maintaining a state of ritual purity through wudhu, not just performing wudhu only when about to pray. Even after experiencing minor ritual impurity (hadats), it is recommended to perform wudhu even if prayer time has not yet arrived and one does not intend to pray.
