MATI SYAHID MENURUT SYEKH NAWAWI AL-BANTANI
1. Gelar dan Penghormatan
- Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani mendapat julukan dari orang Arab sebagai Sayyid Ulama Al-Hijaz, yang artinya "Pemimpin Ulama di Tanah Hijaz" (Top-topnya ulama Makkah-Madinah).
- Karena sangat dihormati, beliau dimakamkan di tempat yang mulia, dekat dengan makam Sayyidah Khadijah.
2. Pandangan Unik tentang Syahid
- Kebanyakan ahli tafsir mengartikan Syahid sebagai orang yang terbunuh oleh orang kafir saat perang.
- Namun, Syekh Nawawi memiliki pandangan yang berbeda dan sangat mendalam:- Jika tujuan berperang hanya ingin menjadi syahid, itu disebut Hadh An-nafsi (hanya memikirkan diri sendiri agar masuk surga).
- Tujuan perang yang sebenarnya dan utama adalah Menang, demi mengagungkan agama Allah Ta'ala.
3. Peringatan Haul
- Haul (peringatan wafat) beliau diperingati setiap Jumat Akhir bulan Syawal.
- Semoga kita bisa meneladani keilmuan dan ketakwaan beliau. Aamiin

DYING AS A MARTYR ACCORDING TO SHEIKH NAWAWI AL-BANTANI
1. Title and Honor
- Sheikh Nawawi Al-Bantani was titled by the Arabs as Sayyid Ulama Al-Hijaz, meaning "The Leader of Scholars in the Land of Hijaz" (The Top Scholar of Makkah and Madinah).
- Due to his high status, he was buried in a noble place, very close to the grave of Sayyidah Khadijah.
2. Unique View on Martyrdom (Syahid)
- Most scholars of interpretation define a martyr as someone who is killed by disbelievers during war.
- However, Sheikh Nawawi had a different and profound perspective:- If the goal of going to war is merely to become a martyr, it is called Hadh An-nafsi (thinking only of oneself, seeking entry to Paradise).
- The true and main purpose of war is Victory, solely for the sake of exalting the religion of Allah Ta'ala.
3. Commemoration
- His commemoration day (Haul) is observed every Last Friday of the month of Syawal.
- May we be inspired to follow his knowledge and piety. Ameen.
CONCLUSION
True martyrdom is for the sake of religion, not for the sake of oneself. As ordinary people who are not experts, we should simply follow the scholars whose era is closest to us
