IF YOU CANNOT DO THESE 8 THINGS, DO THESE 8 THINGS INSTEAD
Narrated from some of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, there is very wise and comforting advice. It says that whoever is not yet able to perform these eight great deeds, then they should do these eight alternative practices to still earn their rewards:
1. Night Prayer ➡️ Avoid Sins
Whoever wishes to gain the virtue of Night Prayer (Tahajud), but fails to wake up and perform it, then they should protect themselves from committing sins and disobedience during the day.
2. Voluntary Fasting ➡️ Guard Your Tongue
Whoever wishes to gain the virtue of voluntary fasting, but is unable to do so, then they should guard their tongue from saying bad words and harmful speech.
3. Knowledge of Scholars ➡️ Contemplate
Whoever wishes to attain the rank and virtue of scholars, then they should often contemplate and reflect deeply upon the creation of Allah.
4. Fighting in the Way of Allah ➡️ Fight Your Desires
Whoever wishes to gain the virtue of a Mujahid (warrior in the path of Allah), but stays at home and cannot go to battle, then they should always fight against the temptations of Satan and their own evil desires.
5. Giving Charity ➡️ Spread Knowledge
Whoever wishes to gain the virtue of giving charity, but does not have the wealth to do so, then they should teach beneficial knowledge to others—whatever they have heard and learned.
6. Hajj Pilgrimage ➡️ Be Consistent with Friday Prayer
Whoever wishes to gain the virtue of performing Hajj, but is not capable physically or financially, then they should always perform the Friday Prayer properly and consistently.
7. Status of Worshippers ➡️ Improve Relationships
Whoever wishes to gain the virtue of those who are devoted in worship, then they should treat others kindly and do not cause conflict or enmity among people.
8. Rank of Wali Allah ➡️ Be Sincere & Pleased
Whoever wishes to gain the high rank of Abdal (a special group of Saints), then they should place their hand on their chest and be pleased with their brother as they are pleased with themselves.
