KEUTAMAAN MEMANDANG AIB DIRI SENDIRI

Ada sebuah nasihat bijak yang mengatakan:

 

"Nek tiyang sampun ngerti Aib utowo Kekurangan piyambak, iku mpun mulai dikersaake Apik".

 

Artinya: "Jika seseorang sudah mengerti aib atau kekurangan dirinya sendiri, maka sesungguhnya ia mulai dikehendaki oleh Allah Ta’ala untuk menjadi orang yang baik."

 

Sungguh mulia orang yang mampu mengintrospeksi diri sendiri sebelum melihat orang lain. Hal ini sebagaimana tertuang dalam kitab Bulugh Al-Marom (1/550):

"Bahagia bagi orang yang sibuk dengan aibnya sendiri, sehingga ia berpaling dari aib-aib orang lain."

(HR. Imam Al-Bazzar dengan sanad Hasan)

 

 

 

Penjelasan Para Ulama

 

Imam Al-Munawi dalam kitab Faidh Al-Qodiri (4/281) menjelaskan makna hadits tersebut:

"Seharusnya orang yang berakal itu memikirkan kekurangan dirinya. Jika ia menemukan aib pada dirinya, maka ia akan sibuk memperbaikinya, sehingga ia menjadi malu untuk memuji diri sendiri dan mencela orang lain."

 

Lebih jauh lagi, Syekh Al-'Arif Assya’roni menukil perkataan gurunya, Syekh Al-Burhan Al-Qolqolsyandi:

"Sesungguhnya termasuk tanda jauhnya seorang hamba dari hadrah (kehadiran) Tuhannya ialah karena ia lupa akan aib-aib dan kekurangannya sendiri."

 

 

 

Semoga kita semua termasuk hamba yang selalu berhati-hati dan sibuk memperbaiki diri sendiri, bukan sibuk mencari kesalahan orang lain. Aamiin

THE VIRTUE OF SEEING ONE'S OWN FAULTS

 

There is a wise saying that states:

 

"Nek tiyang sampun ngerti Aib utowo Kekurangan piyambak, iku mpun mulai dikersaake Apik".

 

Meaning: "When a person truly understands their own faults and shortcomings, it is a sign that Allah Ta’ala has willed for them to become a better person."

 

How noble is the person who focuses on introspecting themselves before looking at others. This is beautifully stated in the book Bulugh Al-Marom (1/550):

 

"Blessed is the one who is so busy with their own faults that they turn away from the faults of others."

(Narrated by Imam Al-Bazzar, with a Hasan (good) chain of narration)

 

 

 

Explanation by the Scholars

 

Imam Al-Munawi, in his book Faidh Al-Qodiri (4/281), explains the meaning of this hadith:

 

"A person of sound mind should reflect upon their own shortcomings. If they find a fault within themselves, they will be busy rectifying it, and thus they will feel too ashamed to praise themselves or condemn others."

 

Furthermore, Sheikh Al-'Arif Ash-Sha’rani quoted his teacher, Sheikh Al-Burhan Al-Qalqashandi, who said:

 

"Verily, among the signs that a servant has distanced themselves from the Presence of their Lord is that they have forgotten their own faults and deficiencies."

 

May we all be among those who are always cautious and busy improving ourselves, rather than being busy finding faults in others. Ameen

DALIL

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ - رضي الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - ﷺ -: «طُوبَى لِمَنْ شَغَلَهُ عَيْبُهُ عَنْ عُيُوبِ النَّاسِ» أَخْرَجَهُ الْبَزَّارُ بِإِسْنَادٍ حَسَنٍ . 

Diriwayatkan dari Anas Radiyallahu 'anhu Berkata : Kanjeng Rasulalloh shollallohu 'alaihi wasallam Dawuh "Bahagia Bagi orang yang sibuk akan aibnya sendiri (berpaling) dari aib-aib orang lain". (Hadist Riwayat imam Al-bazzar dengan sanad hasan)

Narrated from Anas Radiyallahu 'anhu who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Blessed is the one who is so occupied with their own faults that they turn away from the faults of others.' (Reported by Imam Al-Bazzar with a Hasan chain of narration)

فعلى العاقل أن يتدبر في عيوب نفسه فإن وجد بها عيبا اشتغل بعيب نفسه فيستحي من أن يترك نفسه ويذم غيره 

"Harusnya bagi Orang yang berakal Memikirkan aib dirinya, karena Jika seseorang menemukan aib dirinya maka ia akan sibuk dengan aib tersebut kemudian ia malu untuk memuji dirinya dan mencela orang lain"

"A person of sound mind should reflect upon their own faults. For when someone discovers a fault within themselves, they will be busy addressing it, and thus they will feel too ashamed to praise themselves or condemn others"

ونقل شيخنا العارف الشعراني عن شيخه البرهان القلقشندي: أن من علامة بعد العبد عن حضرة ربه نسيان عيوبه ونقائصه. 

Syekh Al-'arif Assya'roni menukil dawuh gurunya yang bernama Syekh Al-burhan Al-Qolqolsyandi bahwa "Sesungguhnya termasuk tanda jauhnya hamba dari Hadrah Tuhannya ialah lupa aib-aib sendiri dan kekurangannya"

Sheikh Al-'Arif Ash-Sha'rani narrated from his teacher, Sheikh Al-Burhan Al-Qalqashandi, who said: 'Verily, among the signs that a servant has become distant from the Presence of his Lord is that he forgets his own faults and shortcomings"
