MAULID NABI MENURUT PARA ULAMA BESAR

Posted by Abah Ngapakudin  |  at  Agustus 25, 2026

FAKTA MAULID MENURUT TIGA ULAMA BESAR BERGELAR AL-HAFIDZ

📜 Al-Hafidz Ibnu Hajar Al-Asqalani

Kemudian Syekh Ibnu Hajar menjelaskan:

Lalu beliau membuat syair penuh makna:

FACTS ABOUT MAWLID FROM THREE GREAT SCHOLARS TITLED AL-HAFIDZ

Al-Hafidz is the highest honorary title for a hadith scholar who has memorized at least 100,000 hadiths, complete with their chains of narration (sanad) and text (matan). The requirements are extremely rigorous, so this title is exceptionally rare never granted to just anyone. Even in earlier eras, the number of scholars worthy of it could be counted on one’s fingers.

Below are the evidences for celebrating Mawlid, cited from three eminent scholars who bore the title Al-Hafidz:

📜 Al-Hafidz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani

He authored Fathul Bari, the most renowned commentary on Sahih Al-Bukhari, and was the teacher of Shaykhul Islam Zakariya Al-Anshari. He presented a hadith recorded by Imams Al-Bukhari and Muslim as evidence for Mawlid:

When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah, he found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. When he asked them why, they replied: "This is the day Allah drowned Pharaoh and saved Moses, so we fast on it to give thanks to Allah."

Shaykh Ibn Hajar then explained:

This hadith shows it is permissible to give thanks to Allah for blessings granted on a specific day, and to repeat that observance every year. And no blessing is greater than the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the Messenger of Mercy. Therefore, it is only right that his birth be commemorated each year on the same occasion, just as the Jews marked the salvation of Moses on Ashura.

📜 Al-Hafidz Syamsuddin Ad-Dimasyqi

A contemporary of Ibn Hajar, both studied under Al-Iraqi, Ibn Mulaqqin, and Al-Bulqini. Imam Al-Maqrizi praised him as the undisputed leading hadith authority of the Levant, saying no one matched his stature in the region after his passing. He stated:

It is authentically reported that the punishment of Abu Lahab in the Hellfire is lightened every Monday, because he freed his slave Thuwaybah out of joy at the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

He then composed these meaningful verses:

If even a disbeliever condemned and destined to abide in Hell receives relief from punishment each Monday simply for rejoicing at the Prophet’s birth, imagine the immense mercy awaiting the servant who loves the Prophet his entire life and dies in faith!

📜 Al-Hafidz Jalaluddin As-Suyuthi

Writer of over 500 works known across the entire Muslim world. He cited a hadith narrated by Imam Al-Baihaqi:

The Prophet ﷺ performed an 'aqiqah for himself after he was commissioned as a Prophet.

Yet his grandfather Abdul Muthalib had already performed his 'aqiqah on the seventh day after his birth. In Islamic jurisprudence, 'aqiqah is not repeated twice. Thus, this act is understood as a form of gratitude to Allah for sending him as mercy to all creation.

Commemorating the Mawlid is not an unfounded practice. Three of the greatest hadith masters whose scholarly mastery is universally acknowledged have established its basis and proof. May this strengthen our faith and deepen our love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

DALIL

When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah, he found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. Upon asking the reason, they replied: 'This is the day Allah drowned Pharaoh and saved Moses, so we fast here to give thanks to Allah

This hadith shows that it is permissible to give thanks to Allah for blessings or deliverance granted on a specific day, and to repeat that observance each year. Surely, no blessing is greater than the birth of Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Mercy. Therefore, it is only fitting that his birth be commemorated on the same day, following the same principle as the observance of Prophet Moses on the day of Ashura

He (Shaykh Syamsuddin) pursued the study of hadith until he became the undisputed master of hadith (hafidz) in the Levant. He authored numerous works, and no one was able to match his stature or fill his place in the region after his passing

There is an authentic narration stating that the punishment of Abu Lahab in the Hellfire is lightened every Monday. This is because he once freed his slave Thuwaybah out of immense joy upon the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

If even this disbeliever who is clearly condemned and destined to remain in Hell forever receives relief from punishment every Monday simply because he rejoiced at the birth of Prophet Muhammad, then imagine the immense mercy that awaits the servant who delights in the Prophet throughout his life and dies in a state of faith

Sungguh Nabi Saw. melakukan 'aqiqah untuk dirinya sendiri setelah diangkat menjadi Nabi

Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ performed an 'aqiqah for himself after he was appointed as a Prophet
